Greens from the regions Twente (Nl) and Münsterland (Ge) are confronted with plans that put the still relatively small scale rural area under threat.

One is regional airport expansion the FMO airport between Münster and Osnabrück, only 70 kms from the Dutch border, aims at grabbing surplus flights from the main Dutch airport of Schiphol, whereas the Dutch government pushes for Vliegveld Twente (see picture underneath), a former military air base, to claim that role.

Another is the explosion of mega-stables and other forms of industrial farming.

The Greens from the region - or MONT, Münsterland and Network city Twente - have developed an alternative, which focuses on landscape parks, man and environmentally friendly agriculture and green jobs.
