‘We don’t want two English Greens in the European Parliament’, says Jonathan Porritt, one of Britains most famous ecologists, referring to the planet’s climate problems. ‘We want at least ten.’
But competition is strong. As it is, not even Jean Lambert, the Green party’s London MEP, is sure to keep her seat, so the London Greens push on whatever button they can find. One group of voters they are targeting in particular are the non-British EU citizens living in the city, many of whom are not even aware that they can cast their vote in the UK capital.
‘Campaigning includes referencing to their home Green parties’ one of her team says, ‘and to the cohesion between Green parties throughout Europe .... and then just hoping that they won't have a go at euprofiler.eu which suggests the contrary.’
