Up till now the Green Party of England and Wales, the oldest Green party in Europe, never managed to win a national seat - due to the small party fiendly district system. Lately however the Brighton Greens have done so well in local elections that they have a fair chance to write history making Caroline Lucas, currently a Member of the European Parliament, Britain’s first ever Green MP.


Greens from the continent have been invited to cross the Channel and give Caroline’s  campaigners a hand.

Whether they’ll also be invited to give the European campaign an international touch remains to be seen; South-East England isn’t really known for its pro-Europeanism. But Greens from Lille and even Lyon are eager to come over and help their Brighton friends to knock on doors.
