13.Brabant (B-Nl): Save the Benelux Line

The Dutch village of Baarle-Nassau, where the Belgian-Dutch frontiers get so sinuous that you almost change countries every step, offers an ideal background for joining hands between Flemish and Dutch Greens. Therefore it will, just like five years ago, host one of the last crosborder  campaign events:

May 30 - Tilburg - Turnhout: Euro-Bicycle Tour

Greens from Tilburg, Turnhout and surrounding towns will meet Bart Staes (Groen! Flanders) and Niels van den Berge (GroenLinks, Netherlands), both candidates for the European Parliament.

The tour, which sets off at Tilburg (GroenLinks office Nieuwlandstraat 39) and Turnhout at 14h, will arrive  in Baarle Nassau at 16h.

Key theme will be the Benelux Line, a user-friendly intercity connection linking a chain of towns between Brussels and Amsterdam, which, the regional Greens argue, should NOT be scrified once the high-speed Thalys connection is put in place ecause high speed trains are a lot more expensive and only stop at big cities.
