10.Liège/Maastricht/Aachen: 4 Parties join Euregional Hands
In the undulating woodlands of the oldest Euregion, where German and Latin cultures meet, European Green leader Dany Cohn-Bendit fired the starting shot for the Cross Border Relay Tour 2004, in the Walloon town of Eupen.
In 2009, the tour will be present with a host of events.Themes suggested: NO to NATO air base for which too many trees have been cut; an environmentally friendlier layout for the Iron Rhine goods rail line; a rail connection between Maastricht (Nl) and Hasselt (B); mining, de-graveling and other ground works that might destroy nature; better health care cooperation.
