Five years ago German and Dutch Greens from the Wattensee coastal region managed their parties, GroenLinks (Nl) and Die Grünen Niedersachsen, to organise a joint EU elections conference. In the years that followed, they have institutionalised their cooperation - elected board, joint decision making - and have, as Borderless Green and Social, successfully campaigned for a through rail connection from Groningen to Leer.
Currently they are campaigning against plans for no less than 13 polluting coal plants in the area, together with regional clean energy organisations, and for extending the Groningen-Leer rail service to Oldenburg (Ge).
Themes: fight coal & nuclear plants and mega stables, promote extension rail service Groningen-Leer
Material & strategy: common posters and flyers in two languages. used. Much attention is paid to good coverage by the regional press.
