The Green idea is fundamental international, and therefore at least European. This means in organizational terms: The European Green Party is calling von europeanizing and denationalizing the public discourses and politics. Let us here not forget ourselves, the Green parties and the members of Green parties: let’s green Europe – but also: let’s make the Greens European.
The mood is there, but in political practise our grassroot politics is very local, regional and national. This has to be overcome. Here are the tasks for European Green Party (EGP) and it’s supporters – our tasks: Creatinig and promoting the European discourse.
Since we founded the Heerlen Group in January 2002, there has been much improvement in EGP: common election campaigns in 2004 and 2009, steady and ad hoc workings groups and increasing number of paticipants in EGP Councils and Congresses, to tell only the most obvious. But so much has to be done still!
I am looking forward to continuing my efforts as Deputy of Christoph Becker-Schaum of the new Coordination Team. Working in the team my main target would be to get involved Greens from Eastern and Southern Europe.
I am an “instituionalist”, meaning that EGP supporters should not look for creating a party within the party – but to get the Green members involved in the living institutional bodies of the EGP, among them the supporters. I’m involved in NGOs, and I speak russian, polish, greek, german , english, reading espranto, belarusian, and ukrainian.
Who I am:
- 52 years old (jan. 2010)
- Member of Die Grünen (later Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen) since 1990
- member of Fachgruppe Osteuropapolitik of the parliament club
- district councillar in Center of Köln 1994-1999 (in Cologne Greens have now 3 out of 9 district maires)
- manager of Cologne Greens since 2001
- founding member of the Heerlen Group 2002, member of its coordination team 2002-2006
- speaker of regional working gruop for European an international affairs a at Northrhine-Westfalia Greens 1998-2007
- delegate to EGP Congresses in Berlin (2003), Geneva (2006) and Brussels (2009)
