Zukunftskonferenz in Berlin
Saturday 2 July was an important day for the German Greens; they held their Zukunftskonferenz in Berlin. This conference was about the future of the Greens, of Germany, of Europe, challenges and discussion. Everyone was welcome to participate. Find a short summary by David Hamann below.

The day started with a keynote session of Saskia Sassen of Columbia University. She talked about a whole lot of issues – environmental issues, the greek and banking crisis and especially “empowerment”. I’m sure the green party will make a video of the keynote available.
With some delay the conference continued with different workshops. I chose a forum which discussed the concept of R2P (responsibility to protect) and European Foreign Policy as a whole. You can read a summary of the workshop and the principles of R2P on my site: BAG Frieden: R2P – Europäische Außenpolitik auf dem Prüfstand (in German, try Google Translate).
The day continued with two keynotes – one of Marina Silva from Brasil and one of Amr Hamzawy from Egypt. ??In the second round of workshops I joined – again – a discussion about European Foreign Policy, but more specifically about the concept of a European army. Again, you can read a summary on my site: Europa: Unter wessen Kommando?
After
a short break a panel discussion with some journalists followed. They were asked to make further suggestions to the Green Party and to sum up the conference day.?? And that was it. Claudia Roth also gave a summary and closed the conference.
