Heerlen 8: Imagine the new City

The EGP Supporters’ Network invites you to its 9th annual conference, from 5 to 7 November in Amsterdam. At the core is the city you would love to live in, a welcoming environment that replaces today’s tensions by common projects in which all residents play their part. After a keynote speech from one of Holland’s most popular opinion leaders, politicians and participants are challenged to marry experience with new inspiration.

The closure panel adresses a Green Europe of citizens, the Network’s main theme, in an NGO-Greens debate on the European Citizens’ Initiative, the first wolrd’s first transnational instrument of participative democracy.

In between:

• Our work - an update on the Network’s projects: Ten years of EU military Interventon – an assessment; Preparing for Cancún – a globally just climate policy; an online registration of EGP supporters.

• Your Choice - Participation is the Network’s code word. Therefore you are invited to propose themes for workshops and debates to heerlen9@greenyourope.eu before September 15th.

  Already proposed: Sustainable agriculture – Is a compromise between Fair Trade and Food Sovereignty possible ? (GroenLinks’ Europe working group).

• Green Europe meets International Amsterdam, an all night theme party coorganised by the Amsterdam-based Community Veranders, with flash speeches on ecology, community building, and European citizenship, alternated by good music, dancing and fine food.

Costs: you’ll pay your own food, drinks, and accomodation.
