The Zero Carbon Caravan is on its way to Copenhagen
Chris Keene, a 57 year old campaigner from Norwich in England, started the Zero Carbon Caravan from Wales to highlight how the problems caused by climate change are tackled in the places he visits. Chris and whoever joins him part of the way have crossed the Channel by sailing boat. They are now in the Netherlands. They will move on to Germany on the 24th and from there to Denmark.

In 1993 Chris was nearly killed in a road accident while cycling home from work, and was so severely injured that he had to retire from his employment as a teacher. Despite this he is cycling all the way from Wales to Copenhagen because of the importance of the negotiations. He is travelling to Copenhagen without using any fossil fuels, by cycling on land and sailing over the North Sea, to prove that fossil fuels are not necessary for travel. He has also organised events on the journey to show how we can have entertainment, concerts powered by electricity produced by solar power and bicycle. See their website and blogs on how Chris is faring.
He hopes his journey will inspire people to write to their political representatives to demand an outcome at Copenhagen which is fair, effective and binding.
In the Netherlands there will be interviews with green councillors. Chris will join the brithday party of gentech-activist Miep Bos in Lelystad. He will visit the Velomobiel factory in Dronten and the Earthship in Zwolle, etc. For more data contact h.goverde@chello.nl More ideas for solutions in your neighbourhood are welcome too.
Quote from Chris Keene:
Fighting global warming will require enormous changes to our society, but they will be changes for the better, making us healthier, because we have a better diet with less meat and we get more exercise, and happier because we have more time to spend with our friends and families instead of working long hours producing worthless consumer junk. It will also save the world economy as people take green jobs in areas such as renewable energy and insulating buildings.
