Uncommon action on International Migrants’ day

 The European Greens organised a common action in 12 countries on the 18th December, the UN Migrants’ Day. In The Haghue GroenLinks senator Tineke Strik presented a petition to the representative of deputy Minister Albayrak, in charge of migration, asking the Dutch government to realize a just and humane migration policy in the EU. On behalf of the European Greens and also the dutch-turkish migrant organization HTIB we asked:

- that in any case requests for asylum will be handled individually
- that special attention is paid to minors and traumatized people
- that families will not be split up during the procedure
and further:
- more objective information about the situation in countries of origin as a ground for decision
- an independent court of appeal
- no one will be expelled during appeal
- restrictions on detention of asylum seekers
After the presentation of the petition we informed the shopping public in the neighbourhood.
