World wide Climate Campaign
Launching a global climate campaign the green parties of five continents will end the second Global Green congress from 1 to 4 May 2008 in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. In four days of workshops and debate they’ll phrase a strong message that, from economical reforms to social consequences and conflicts caused by fuel and water shortage, covers all green solutions to the planet’s most urgent problem. Â
Dictator
The conference takes place in a period that is crucial for Kenya: only four years ago the country left did away with it’s last dictator, Arap Moi. A new constitution is still in draft. And the parliamentary elections of December 2007 will put the nascent democracy to the test.
Green Belt
In this democracy the Mazinga Green Party has a unique role: with nobelist Wangari Maathai as its emblematic leader, it is the sole of the over 100 Kenyan parties based on universal, not regional or ethnic principles. It was founded by the Green Belt Movement, Africa’s strongest environment organisation, participates in Parliament and hopes to strengthen its position next year. More
