15-17 September, Amsterdam: Sex and drugs – the Dutch approach.

2nd meeting Greens in Big Cities. The focus is on how to limit the negative consequences for the public and and on victims protection, not so much on the industry as such.Invited are specialists from BLiN (Bonded Labour in Nederland), an organisation defending victims of human trafficking; Mainline, campaigning for adequate support of drug addicts aiming at the reduction of risks. The opening event will be an introduction of the new Red-Green city council, with several local politicians as guests. For greens from abroad with limited financial means, the organisation tries to raise additional funds.

This is the second conference of its kind, the first one was organised in Berlin in 2005. The idea is to make it an annual event, organised by a different city on a different subject each time, always bearing in mind that the problems those cities face are similar and greens can learn from each others’experience.

A visit to the red light district and a coffeeshop will be part of the programme. Travel and hotel costs are to be paid by the participants, but for less well-of parties some funding might be found. Interested? ContactMirte Postma mpostma@raad.amsterdam.nl
